You tap the bookmark icon on a post you want to come back to. Does the person who posted it get a notification? No. Saving a post on Instagram is private. Here's exactly what creators can see, and why a bookmark might not be the safest way to keep something.
Saving Is Private
Instagram doesn't notify anyone when you save their post, Reel or carousel, and your saved collection is visible only to you.
What Creators Can See
Business and creator accounts can see how many times a post was saved in their insights. It's a total number only. They can't see who saved it.
What About Screenshots?
Screenshots don't notify anyone either, except for disappearing photos and videos sent in DMs. Read the full answer in does Instagram notify when you screenshot a story, and see what people can see when you view their Instagram.
The Catch With Saved Posts
A saved post is only a bookmark pointing to the original. If the creator deletes it, archives it or makes their account private, it vanishes from your saved collection too. Read what to do if your favorite Instagram post gets deleted.
Keep a Real Copy, Privately
InstaSave saves the actual photo or video file from public posts to your device. Like Instagram's bookmark, it's private: nobody is notified, and because you never log in to Instagram in the app, there's no connection to your account at all.
Steps
- Copy the post's link from Instagram's share menu
- Paste it into InstaSave
- Save the original file to your library and camera roll
