It happens more often than you'd think. A creator wipes their account, archives old posts, switches to private, or Instagram takes a post down. One day the video you loved is simply gone, and so is the copy in your saved collection.
Can You Get a Deleted Instagram Post Back?
If it's your own post, check Recently Deleted in your Instagram settings. Instagram keeps deleted posts there for 30 days, and you can restore them.
If it's someone else's post, there's generally no way to view it again through Instagram once it's removed. That's why the only real protection is saving a copy before it disappears.
Why Instagram's Saved Collection Won't Protect You
Tapping the bookmark icon doesn't store the post. It only points to the original. When the original is deleted, archived or made private, the bookmark leads nowhere.
Save a Copy While You Can
InstaSave stores the actual photo or video file on your device. Whatever happens to the original afterward, your copy stays in your InstaSave library and camera roll.
Steps
- Copy the post's link from Instagram's share menu
- Paste it into InstaSave
- Save the file in full original quality
Make Saving a Habit
- Save recipes, tutorials and workout videos the moment you find them
- Viral Reels often get pulled over music or copyright claims, so learn how to download Instagram Reels before they're deleted
- Don't forget your own posts. Here's the best way to archive your own Instagram content
Already Seeing an Error?
